In addition to tennis and golf, Tudor City also offered ice skating for one season in the winter of 1941. It didn't return the following year -- the community's much-touted river breezes kept the rink from freezing over for long.
The rink was set on a flooded tennis court. This view looks north across 41st Street to the Essex House (left) and Prospect Hill Apartments (right).
Another view, this time to the east, with No. 5 in the background. A sign for the Tudor City Tennis Club (upper left corner) remains in place for the following season.
